Seeing the Garner Valley area just outside Idyllwild, Ca. for the first time is a breathtaking experience. Following the Pines to Palms highway 74, one is struck by the magnificent beauty and serenity of this place. Quite a far cry from the Orange County / Los Angeles lifestyle. Yet it is only about 45 minutes from the Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs area. Such a find!
Mountain Center and the Garner Valley was where the first episode of Bonanza was filmed! Who can forget the four famous actors riding toward the camera in the opening scene? The famous Ponderosa ranch!
It just so happens that the movie "Wild", starring Reese Witherspoon, showcased the Pacific Crest Trail. The Pacific Crest Trail passes right through the Garner Valley and the homeowners can either hike, or ride their horses on it. How far can they go? Well the Pacific Crest Trail stretches from Canada to Mexico!
So where is this magnificent place you ask? Well think of a perfect triangle! It is exactly 95 miles from Orange County California, which is exactly 95 miles to San Diego, which is exactly 95 miles to Mountain Center. Mountain Center is in the San Jacinto Mountains at an elevation of approximately 4500' hovering above the Palm Springs area which means Mountain Center has four seasons. A beautiful Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter!
Almost all of the Garner Valley Estates are Equestrian related and are plus or minus five acres. The horse trails are well taken care of. A strong sense of community exists between all homeowners. The fire department with a full paramedic staff exists literally blocks away. Cal Trans operations which keep the beautiful Pines to Palms highway in tip top shape is also literally blocks away.
